  1. Skandinavian party shake
  2. ------------------------

  4.   One   and   a   half   months  in  a
  5. dream-world...     This   summer   was
  6. something  like that.  I was impressed
  7. by  Denmark,  Sweden, Norway, Finland,
  8. and  other  countries  that I've never
  9. seen.  You see, writing those letters,
  10. swapping   those   disks   wasn't  for
  11. nothing after all, because without the
  12. contacts  this  journey  could've been
  13. impossible  to  make.   As the parties
  14. meant  sure points, sure accomodations
  15. for  a  few  days, and of course I was
  16. interested  in the famous skandinavian
  17. Amiga-life  (which  is  said to be the
  18. centre  of  the  scene), my friend and
  19. companion  Jean and I haven't missed a
  20. single date.
  21.  
  22.   Let's  start it where we did, on the
  23. 26th  of  June,  on  the train running
  24. full  speed to the isle of Samso.  Our
  25. main  helper  was  Wolfman of Balance,
  26. who  introduced us to some nice chaps.
  27. The train was full of Amiga freaks, it
  28. was  very  cool to meet Mightymuz/Skid
  29. Row  and  Zob/Scoopex.   The Hurricane
  30. party  was  quite  popular, it was the
  31. biggest  hit  of the summer with about
  32. 1000  dudes.  The place - a school and
  33. two  gyms - were outstanding, cool for
  34. a  party.  The organization was not so
  35. bad as some dudes said afterwards.  It
  36. was  one simple 'mistake' which turned
  37. the  Hurricane  party  into  Hurrilame
  38. party.    Rumours  said  that  someone
  39. phoned  on  the school's line for some
  40. hours, so the organizers had to cancel
  41. th  big prizes.  So you can understand
  42. why  were  th  makers  of the summer's
  43. best   demos   -  p.g.   Melon  Dezign
  44. (S.O.S.),  Anarchy (In the kitchen) or
  45. Kefrens   (Guardian   Dragon   II.)  -
  46. furious.  But back to the subject.  We
  47. arrived  fine, greeted the friends and
  48. contacts       like      Trix/Anarchy,
  49. Pinny/Anarchy  or Krueger/Kefrens, and
  50. we  met  some  cool new dudes.  It was
  51. nice     to     meet     the    polish
  52. Mr.Root/Sanity, who attends almost all
  53. parties;  with a good car which helped
  54. a  lot with getting down to the beach.
  55. Yeah,   monitors   and  fancy  vectors
  56. weren't  all  the  fun for us, but the
  57. bright sun, the blue sea and the girls
  58. were   not   the  last  to  mention...
  59. Eveningtime  lodsa  people were drunk,
  60. mainly  the  ancient  gods  -  Scoopex
  61. members.   Then  we  moved over to the
  62. girls,   and  we  were  quite  shocked
  63. watching  the chicks drinking easily a
  64. box  og  Tuborgs.  Some dudes left off
  65. for  the local disco, only Kefrens and
  66. Static  Bytes  were  in  their  rooms,
  67. checking  their  productions.  Then it
  68. was  compo-time,  but  the  demos were
  69. shown  on  a  lame projector.  I think
  70. everyone  knows  the results.  We were
  71. happy  becauseADT won the 4th prize in
  72. the  gfx  compo,  but unfortunately we
  73. got  nothing  but friendly handshakes.
  74. Overall,  here  were  the most people,
  75. the best demos and the biggest scandal
  76. of the three visited parties.  Perhaps
  77. it  was  no  fun  for some people, but
  78. Jean  and  I  had  lots of fun on this
  79. paradise island.

  81.   The  next  party  was the one called
  82. The Rendezvous, organized by Symbiosis
  83. from  the  12th  to  the 15th of July.
  84. After  discovering  Oslo,  we traveled
  85. with  the  night train to Mandal so we
  86. could  arrive  in the dawn.  Mandel is
  87. one  of Norway's finest city, lying on
  88. the south coast.  The people were very
  89. kind, for example the cab took us free
  90. to  the  party place.  Later on seeing
  91. the  prices,  we couldn't buy a lot of
  92. things,  only if I count the burger at
  93. 9.00$...   Similar  to  the Hurricane,
  94. the  party  took  place  in a big gym,
  95. with  fine bathrooms and rooms, but we
  96. only  met with norwegians.  So the 200
  97. guys  couldn't  make  a very big show.
  98. The   soccer   compo   was   my  first
  99. appearance  after a long sleep, but it
  100. was  just  fab.   I  made friends with
  101. chaps        like        Shade/Devils,
  102. Moxy/Andromeda  or  a  cool back-guard
  103. from  Desire  and  we  knocked out the
  104. fearful  Crusaders in the final.  This
  105. was   the   first   success   of   the
  106. 'Barbarians'.   Jean  had fun with his
  107. friends  from  Budapest(!!!),  while I
  108. was  in  the camp making friends.  The
  109. compos    were   funny   as   only   2
  110. wanna-be-demos    competed,   so   the
  111. musician  from TSL, Jason got the main
  112. prize, the Amiga 2000.  Although every
  113. important norwegian group was present,
  114. it   was   a   little   party   on   a
  115. scandinavian     scale.     My    best
  116. experience  was  a f**king cool disco,
  117. where  I  just couldn't get rid of the
  118. blondies.  It's my life...
  119.  
  120.   Then   I   left  off  with  Jean  to
  121. Finland.    We  met  one  of  my  best
  122. friends,  Zephyr/The  Silents,  and we
  123. stepped  to the best place on Earth in
  124. a trio.  What's thet place?  The ferry
  125. between Sweden and Finland!  Yeaah!  I
  126. haven't  seen  such a cool place in my
  127. life!   Ten  floors,  2  cinemas,  580
  128. cars,   pool,   disco,   at   least  5
  129. restaurants,  cafeteria,  night  club,
  130. etc.   Some people just travel because
  131. the  trip  between  6 p.m.  and 9 a.m.
  132. is  sooo  wild.   Booze and fine girls
  133. made  the trip more exciting.  The the
  134. 24  of  us  rushed  into  the party by
  135. Rebels  and  Complex  called Assembly.
  136. It   took  place  in  the  suburbs  of
  137. Helsinki.   It  really was the biggest
  138. ever    party    in    Finland,    the
  139. organization by MeeGosh was perfect if
  140. you  don't  count the voting.  Here we
  141. didn't  care  much  (less)  about  the
  142. Amiga  as the beauties of Finland (old
  143. churces  etc.)  couldn't  let  us  go.
  144. Everyone  who  is  famous  in  Finland
  145. attended  this party, even some people
  146. came from Switzerland, France, Sweden,
  147. Italy.   After  th usual greetings the
  148. soccer competition was my fun.  I went
  149. around   and  'traded'  some  talented
  150. freaks.  We won again, pushing Stellar
  151. back   to   the   2nd   place.    Viva
  152. Barbarians!  That was for the exciting
  153. part  of  the Assembly.  After a fight
  154. with  the  Telecommunications Company,
  155. our  Aabsolute!   demo was on the BBS.
  156. Oh  yes,  the  voting...   People were
  157. waiting  and  waiting,  the  they  got
  158. bored  and  left  for their rooms.  So
  159. when  the  demos  were  on about 5 'o'
  160. clock  only  some fanatics were awake.
  161. Originally we should have voted with a
  162. personal  code  on  the main computer,
  163. but  finally  a  jury  had  to decide.
  164. Guess  what?   Yeah,  3  finnish demos
  165. were  the winners and our demo got the
  166. 4th  place.  But nothing could get rid
  167. of  our joy.  After leaving Helsinkiwe
  168. had   some   exciting  adventures  but
  169. that's another story...
